I've had quite a few calls on how the recent announcement of Intuit and Salesforce's Strategic Alliance and if or how this would effect InterWeave's Salesforce to QuickBooks Smart Solution. First, we would would like to commend both companies on an alliance that make sense not only for the companies, but more importantly, their customer base. Salesforces typical customer is not the small SMB that you will find in the Intuit Marketplace, but this offering will now allow them to start understanding the power of integrated CRM (front office) and their Financial application (back office).

A major contributing attribute is the acceleration of the adoption of social, mobile and open cloud CRM solutions into small businesses. There is a learning and adoption curve here, but packing a combined solution will ease the way for many small business owners.

And now to the question of how or will this effect InterWeave's Salesforce_QuickBooks Smart Solution. The answer is yes. Firstly, it will provide members of the Intuit Marketplace the entry into what CRM, Social Media and Accounting, when combined, provide to the business, the owners and the customers. Why are you a leading contributor in the SugarCRM community? What are the benefits that you experience from your involvement?

RemoteLink, a SugarCRM Gold Partner, is new to the SugarCRM community; however, we have been developing custom software and providing infrastructure services since 1995. We hope this project is the start of a long-term and mutually beneficial relationship with the SugarCRM community.

What inspired you to create this project?

We noticed some duplication of effort and some manual data translation in our own internal processes between our SugarCRM and Quickbooks instances. We leveraged this opportunity to make our own internal processes more efficient, and developed the solution as a commercially available product.

What business pain points were you solving specifically?

At various points in the sales cycle, there is data that needs to be transferred from SugarCRM to Quickbooks. In the absence of a true integration solution, this data has to be transferred manually between the two systems. This manual data translation leads to operational delays, errors in translation, and ultimately longer and less efficient cycle times for customers.

Additionally, when sales people need access to real-time financial data about a customer, they require a separate login to Quickbooks in order to obtain this information. This wastes time, as the sales person has to log into a separate system, and money, as additional Quickbooks licenses have to be purchased.

Is there anything that the users should know about those? Something hidden/new in this project? Think of this as an opportunity to describe how it works to a user?

Our base package is designed to perform the most common data translations with the touch of a custom button in SugarCRM. Detailed, itemized Quickbooks invoices are created from the SugarCRM Quote and available SugarCRM Products. Customer information, including account balance and 30/60/90 aging data, are synchronized between SugarCRM and Quickbooks.

Optional packages add automatic, real-time synchronization, and add additional, synchronized data translations between SugarCRM and Quickbooks. Available data translations include:

Mobile Security Needs Rise with Smartphone Sales

Cloud-based security that finds lost phones and backs up data is becoming crucial to make mobile computing safe

As the world moves from feature phones to smartphones, more personal data will be stored locally or available through the cloud on the handheld we tote everywhere.

That's both good and bad.

Having instant access to our information is a time saver and allows us to do more on the go. Putting that valuable information in someone else's hands through a lost or stolen phone, however, can be a nightmare. Based on this scenario, then, I'm not surprised to hear that Lookout, a cloud-based smartphone security company, has announced a doubling of its user base in the past two months: Lookout now boasts 2 million registered members.

Similar to Apple's (AAPL) Find My Phone feature for its Mobile Me service, Lookout caters to other platforms, including Android (GOOG), Windows Mobile (MSFT), and BlackBerry (RIMM). Lookout goes beyond finding a lost phone, although the company claims to have found a lost phone every 15 seconds, on average, over the past two months. If the worst happens and a phone is lost, Lookout users can remotely wipe the phone's data. The software offers protection from malware and viruses; few have popped up in the mobile world compared with the desktop market, but this layer of protection is welcome. Lookout also backs up personal data, including contacts, photos, video, e-mail, and text messages. Users can restore the data from cloud to handset as needed, and Lookout reports that it has more than 625 million contacts from users to date.
Smartphones Catch On

Safe mobile computing isn't a new concept, by any means. Indeed, Stacey recently offered tips to protect handsets and the data contained on them. So what's changed recently? The sheer number of smartphones sold. Consumers are finally beginning to embrace the mobile Web by purchasing connected handsets with enough power to provide a pleasant experience. The estimated number of smartphones that will sell this year rivals the expected number of notebook computers to be sold … in 2014. With high smartphone adoption rates and a reliance on the devices for our personal data, it's high time that safe mobile computing take center stage.

In the past, I've used a solution similar to Lookout called WaveSecure, which was recently purchased by McAfee (MFE) and is now owned by Intel (INTC), as Intel agreed to buy McAfee last month for $7.68 billion. The mobile Internet is growing faster than its desktop counterpart ever did, and more users may go online via mobile devices than desktop PCs within five years, according to a new study by investment firm Morgan Stanley.

The intriguing prediction is one of many in the firm's massive "The Mobile Internet Report," a 424-page epic that someone, somewhere is bound to read in its entirety. For the rest of us, the executive summary will do just fine. If you're interested in perusing the full report, you'll find it here.

The report states we're "now in the early innings" of mobile Internet development, which is growing faster than previous tech cycles, including the evolution of the desktop PC. Given the rapid adoption of smartphones, including (obviously) the Apple iPhone and a growing number of devices using Google's Android mobile operating system, Morgan Stanley's conclusions shouldn't surprise anyone.

The study also points out that mobile Net growth is global phenomenon, not one confined to the developed world, which was typically the case with prior tech trends. But despite the worldwide focus, U.S. companies including Apple, Google, and Amazon are taking a leadership role. Furthermore, "a host of relatively young, but seasoned world-class technology veterans," including Apple CEO Steve Jobs and Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg, are leading the mobile push, the report states.

Five key tech trends are converging to spur mobile Net growth, including 3G (and soon 4G) broadband, the popularity of social networking, online video, VOIP services such as Skype and Vonage, and "awesome mobile devices" that do tasks that until recently were the sole domain of your desktop or laptop PC.

The short term looks especially bright for Apple, but challenges await.

The "mobile ecosystem" of the iPhone, iPod touch, iTunes, and various accessories and services will continue to bloom over the next two years. After that, however, Google Android, competition from emerging markets, and wireless carrier limitations may pose a threat to Apple's market share, the report predicts.

There's little doubt the mobile Internet will dominate in the coming years--just look how far mobile handsets have come since the debut of the iPhone in 2007. Toss in a growing selection of rapidly improving smartphones, a new breed of wireless-ready tablet devices, e-readers like the Amazon Kindle, and faster 4G networks, and it's easy to see that mobile is the future of the Net.

Key Deliverables

If the 50 hours are not used during the month, then up to 5 hours (10%) may be rolled over into the following month
Additional hours will be billed at standard rate upon approval of customer in writing.

Monitor and maintain the Salesforce_Quickbooks Solution developed by Integration Technologies, Inc.
Create a new email address; support(customer)@interweave.biz to address any case reported issue by the customer’s employee’s or support staff.

Terms

SmartSupport shall commence on the date the Agreement is executed by the parties, and continue for an initial term of six months (6) months, and shall continue thereafter on a six (6) month basis unless earlier terminated as provided herein. This Agreement may be terminated by either party upon thirty (30) days prior written notice.
Invoices shall be submitted to our customer for monthly subscription services rendered in advance by Integration Technologies in accordance with the terms outlined in the Agreement
Either party may cancel this agreement given thirty (30) days notification to the corresponding party.

We wanted a complete SaaS Solution, integrating our Salesforce with Quickbooks, and we needed our Quickbooks hosted. After researching a number of vendors, we found InterWeave and their “Solutions as a Service” offerings. The Salesforce_Quickbooks Solution has over 135 configurable options; picklists, drop downs, custom fields, etc. We worked with ITX Corp., the MSP vendor for our Quickbooks hosting to setup our Quickbooks, configured our Solution with InterWeave and started testing. Everything is working great and I am very satisfied with the service, support and the people.
